2026 Interventional Pulmonary - Diagnostic & Therapeutic Bronchoscopy

This comprehensive post-graduate course is designed for experienced thoracic endoscopists and provides an in-depth review of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in interventional pulmonology. Topics include rigid and navigational bronchoscopy, EBUS-guided lung cancer detection and staging, airway and pleural interventions, bronchoscopic therapies for emphysema, and pulmonary nodule risk stratification and program development. The course highlights current evidence, emerging technologies, and practical application of a full range of interventional tools. Educational formats include lectures, case-based discussions, video instruction, and hands-on laboratory sessions utilizing low- and high-fidelity simulation.

1. Identify the indications, contraindications, and proper techniques for advanced interventional pulmonology procedures.
2. Discuss the principles and clinical applications of laser therapy, argon plasma coagulation, electrocautery, cryotherapy, and cryobiopsy.
3. Describe the pathophysiology of central airway obstruction and the role of endoscopic therapies and airway stenting in its management.
4. Manage benign and malignant airway diseases using advanced bronchoscopic techniques.
5. Define the role of TBNA, EBUSguided biopsy, cryobiopsy, and other advanced bronchoscopic modalities in the diagnosis and staging of lung cancer.
6. Describe pleural anatomy and the appropriate indications for medical thoracoscopy and indwelling pleural catheter placement in benign and malignant pleural disease.
7. Explain the indications and techniques for percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy and cricothyrotomy.
8. Develop management strategies for hemoptysis in the interventional pulmonology setting.
9. Apply current lung cancer screening and staging guidelines, including risk stratification of pulmonary nodules.
10. Describe the role of rigid bronchoscopy in the management of complex airway disease.
11. Identify relevant cytologic and molecular markers used in the diagnosis and management of lung cancer.
12. Explain the principles of navigational bronchoscopy and minimally invasive robotic bronchoscopic techniques using radiographic guidance.
