Overview
The Lahey NeuroRefresher Course is a full-day, case-based educational program designed to update primary care providers, APPs, emergency clinicians, and community neurologists on high-yield topics in acute and common neurological conditions. Through lectures, panel discussions, and interactive case reviews, participants will learn to recognize neurologic red flags, apply focused bedside exam techniques, interpret key neuroimaging findings, and implement evidence-based management strategies for headaches, dizziness, stroke, back pain, migraine, seizures vs. syncope, peripheral neuropathy, and medication-related neurologic side effects. The course is designed to improve clinical competence and performance by strengthening diagnostic accuracy, optimizing referral pathways, and enhancing documentation and risk-management practices across neurologic presentations commonly seen in primary care and emergency settings.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Differentiate "red flag" headache features from benign migraine presentations to determine when immediate workup is warranted.
  2. Apply the HINTS examination or other targeted physical exam maneuvers to distinguish between central and peripheral causes of acute dizzinessvertigo.
  3. Summarize the implications of recent clinical studies regarding the expanded time windows and criteria for acute ischemic stroke neurointervention.
  4. Develop an interdisciplinary management plan for patients presenting with complex chronic back pain, incorporating psychological and structural factors.
  5. Perform a highyield, targeted neurological examination tailored to the constraints of a busy primary care clinic setting.
  6. Formulate a diagnostic strategy to effectively differentiate between transient loss of consciousness due to seizure versus syncope.
  7. Identify common nonneurological medications associated with significant neurological side effects and describe mitigation strategies.
  8. Recognize the positive clinical signs of functional neurological symptoms (FNSD) and initiate a supportive, nonstigmatizing communication approach with the patient.
  9. Design a practical, costeffective diagnostic workup algorithm for a patient presenting with newonset peripheral neuropathy.
  10. Discuss current bestpractice guidelines for the initial management and appropriate specialist referral of chronic migraine patients.
