Overview
One-day interdisciplinary conference for physicians, nurses, and first responders on trauma prevention. Topics include evidence-based strategies, brain injury management, rehabilitation, and workplace violence prevention to improve outcomes and reduce injury-related morbidity

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe the mechanism of injury as it relates to the transfer of energy, anticipated patient injuries and treatment measures to optimize patient outcomes.
  2. Describe the neurobehavioral and neurocognitive sequelae of traumatic brain injury as it relates to brain site, severity of injury and rehabilitation.
  3. Describe the educational opportunities used to prevent primary and secondary injuries to those most at risk.
  4. Describe ways of responding to conflict to avoid agitation, aggression, and the potential for violence in the health care arena.
